Battersea's skyline has changed more in the last decade than in the fifty years before. The Power Station, empty for years, is now full of shops, restaurants and offices. Nine Elms, next door, has new towers, a new embassy and two new tube stations. Battersea Park still hosts some of London's biggest outdoor events. Minibus hire Battersea groups book is mostly about those, with visits, team events, park festivals and airport runs.
From our base in SE1, Battersea is about fifteen to twenty minutes outside the rush hour, along the river.
Minibus hire Battersea for the Power Station
Battersea Power Station has been rebuilt as a shopping, dining and office destination, with a lift that takes visitors to the top of one of the famous chimneys. Groups come for visits, team events and nights out, and companies with offices in the building book us for away days and client events.
For visits, we'll agree a drop-off point nearby, and the driver will wait or come back at an agreed time. The riverside walk between the Power Station and Battersea Park is a pleasant ten minutes, and some groups prefer to be dropped at one and collected from the other.
The restaurants and bars inside the Power Station and along the river at Nine Elms take group bookings, and evening events and parties there often need a minibus home at the end of the night.
Events in Battersea Park
Battersea Park, along the river, hosts concerts, festivals, fairs and big corporate events, and its event venue draws conferences and parties through the year. The park also has a children's zoo, the Peace Pagoda and sports pitches used by local clubs and schools.
On big event days, the roads around the park are busy and some close. We'll agree the drop-off and pickup points before the day.
Nine Elms and the embassy
Nine Elms, between Battersea and Vauxhall, has new offices, homes and the US Embassy. The New Covent Garden Market, London's main fruit, vegetable and flower market, operates through the night here.
Companies in Nine Elms book us for team events and airport runs, and embassy visitors sometimes need group transport for official visits and receptions. The two Northern line stations, Battersea Power Station and Nine Elms, opened in 2021 and have made the area much easier to reach, but for groups with luggage, a minibus is still simpler.
Clapham Junction and Lavender Hill
Clapham Junction station is in Battersea, not Clapham, and it's one of the busiest rail interchanges in the country. Groups arriving by train often need onward transport. Battersea Arts Centre, on Lavender Hill, hosts theatre, events and weddings in the old town hall.
For pickups near the station, we'll agree a point on a side street, because the roads around it are busy with buses.
Northcote Road, running south from Clapham Junction, has restaurants, bars and a street market, and it's a popular spot for birthday dinners and family lunches. Wandsworth Common, at its southern end, is used by local schools and sports teams.
Heathrow and the airports
Heathrow is about forty to fifty minutes from Battersea outside the rush hour, via the A3 and the A316 or the A4 and the M4. Gatwick is fifty minutes to an hour south, via the A24 and the M25 or the A23. London City Airport is about thirty-five to forty minutes.
For a holiday family, a minibus from home beats dragging cases through Clapham Junction's busy platforms.
The bridges to Chelsea
Several bridges cross the river from Battersea to Chelsea and Pimlico. Albert Bridge has a strict weight limit, and larger vehicles, including minibuses, can't use it. Chelsea Bridge and Battersea Bridge are the alternatives.
The thing to know about minibus hire Battersea groups book for trips north of the river is that the driver will pick the bridge that suits the vehicle and the traffic. Queenstown Road and Battersea Park Road are busy at peak times, so we'll plan the timings for the slower version of the roads.
Battersea has plenty of weddings too, at Battersea Arts Centre, at St Mary's, the old riverside church, and at venues along the river. With guests coming from all over London, a meeting point and a minibus to the ceremony keep the day on time. For school groups, the park's zoo, the Dogs and Cats Home and the Power Station's own attractions make for a full day.
Give us the date, the numbers and the plan, and we'll come back with a vehicle, a pickup time and a written price.
Late at night, the run from Battersea to most of south-west London is quick.
Our base is fifteen minutes away along the river, so short-notice bookings in Battersea are often possible. Ring and ask.
