Bromley is the biggest London borough by area, and it feels like two places. The north is suburban London, Beckenham, Penge and Bromley town with fast trains into the centre. The south is countryside, with farms, narrow lanes and Biggin Hill Airport. Minibus hire Bromley families book covers both, and most of it is airport runs, school trips and weddings.
From our base in SE1, Bromley town centre is about forty-five minutes outside the rush hour. The southern villages are further.
Gatwick from the borough's edge
For Gatwick, most of Bromley goes round the M25 rather than across south London. From Bromley town, it's the A21 south to junction 4, then the M25 west to junction 7 and down the M23. That's usually forty-five minutes to an hour outside the rush.
From Beckenham, the A23 through Croydon can be as quick, depending on the time of day. From Orpington, the M25 is the obvious choice, with junction 4 just south of the town.
On a summer Friday afternoon, the M25 between junction 5 and junction 7 can be slow, and we'll plan for it. Biggin Hill Airport, in the south of the borough, handles business and private flights, and we collect passengers from there too. For Heathrow, the M25 the other way round is long, so allow an hour and a half from most of the borough.
Minibus hire Bromley for school trips
Bromley has a large number of schools, from primaries in every village to big secondary and independent schools, and they book us regularly. Museum trips into central London are common, but so are trips to places closer to home.
Chislehurst Caves are a popular school trip, and Down House in Downe, where Charles Darwin lived and worked, draws groups studying science. Crystal Palace Park has the dinosaur sculptures and the National Sports Centre, which hosts athletics and swimming events.
For regular runs like swimming or fixtures, we can book the dates for the term.
Weddings, from churches to country venues
Bromley has a lot of weddings. Churches in Chislehurst and Bromley town, register office ceremonies, and receptions at country venues across the Kent border. Some are close to the M25, others down narrow lanes that take careful planning.
For weddings in the south of the borough, the last mile is often the hardest. Lanes around Downe, Cudham and Biggin Hill are narrow, with tight bends and few passing places. A 16-seater can manage most of them, but we'll check the route in advance and agree where the vehicle can wait.
Bromley town and evenings out
Bromley town centre has the Glades shopping centre, the Churchill Theatre and a busy high street with restaurants and bars. The Churchill Theatre's pantomime season brings school trips in December. Bromley South has fast trains to Victoria, which is why plenty of groups head into central London for a night out instead.
For those, a minibus into town and back is easier than the last train, especially for a group spread across Petts Wood, Hayes and West Wickham. Give us the addresses and we'll plan the drop-offs.
The Princess Royal University Hospital at Farnborough is the borough's main hospital, and staff book us for team events and leaving dos.
Teams, clubs and sport
Bromley has a strong club scene. Bromley FC play at Hayes Lane, and the borough is full of cricket, rugby, hockey and football clubs whose teams travel across Kent, Surrey and London every weekend. A 16-seater with room for kit is the standard booking for an away fixture.
The National Sports Centre at Crystal Palace hosts athletics meetings, swimming galas and youth competitions, and teams from across the south-east come to it. For visiting teams, we'll collect from a hotel or a station and bring the squad to the venue, then wait for the finish.
Golf clubs in the south of the borough also bring groups in, with bags that need space.
North, east and the rural south
Beckenham, Penge and Crystal Palace in the north-west are close to Croydon and Lewisham. Chislehurst and Orpington in the east sit near Sidcup and the A20. West Wickham and Hayes are quiet suburbs between Bromley and Croydon. Biggin Hill in the south has its own airport, used for business and private flights.
You'll find a page for each of those areas too, with local notes. Pickups that cross the borough, say Beckenham and Orpington on the same trip, are fine. Give us every address and we'll plan the order.
The honest caveat for minibus hire Bromley groups book in the south of the borough is the lanes. A satnav will happily send a vehicle down a single-track road with grass growing in the middle. Our drivers check the route, but if your pickup is down a lane, tell us, and we'll agree a point on the nearest main road if needed.
