The Edgware Road runs dead straight from Marble Arch to Edgware because it follows Watling Street, the Roman road to St Albans. Edgware sits at the far end of it, where the Northern line stops and the M1 is a few minutes away. It's a busy suburban town with one of the largest Jewish communities in London, and plenty of families from Indian, Sri Lankan, Somali and Eastern European backgrounds too. Minibus hire Edgware customers book is mostly about family life, with weddings and simchas, school trips and sports fixtures, and runs to Luton, which is closer than most people expect.
Edgware straddles the boundary between Barnet and Harrow, with Canons Park and Stanmore to the west and Mill Hill to the east. From our base in SE1, it's about an hour outside the rush hour, up the Edgware Road or the A41.
Minibus hire Edgware for weddings and simchas
Weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, engagements and big birthdays here often bring guests from across north London, Manchester, Israel and the United States. The ceremony may be at a synagogue in Edgware or Stanmore, with the reception at a hotel or banqueting suite in Hertfordshire or north-west London.
We'll plan a loop that collects guests from their homes or hotels, drops at the ceremony, takes them on to the reception and brings them back at the end of the night. Many Jewish weddings take place on Sundays, or on Saturday evenings after Shabbat ends, and in winter that can mean a late start and a very late finish. Tell us the timings and we'll plan the runs around them. For larger weddings, we can put more than one vehicle on.
Hindu, Sikh, Muslim and Christian weddings in the area follow their own patterns, and we'll plan those around the timings you give us.
Luton straight up the M1
Edgware is a few minutes from junction 4 of the M1, and Luton Airport is about thirty to forty minutes outside the rush hour. That makes it one of the quickest airport runs in this part of London. Heathrow is about forty-five minutes, via the M25 or the A40, and Stansted about an hour and a quarter.
Minibus hire Edgware families book for a holiday usually means a run to Luton with everyone and all the cases in one vehicle, rather than two cars in the airport car park. Coming home, the driver tracks the flight and meets everyone inside the terminal. Ben Gurion flights, mostly from Luton and Heathrow, are a common reason for the run.
Schools and faith schools
Edgware has a lot of primary and secondary schools, both state and independent, including several Jewish faith schools. They book us for museum visits, swimming galas, sports fixtures and residential trips. The South Kensington museums are about fifty minutes away outside the rush hour.
For school bookings, we'll confirm the details in writing, and the driver will be at the gate at the agreed time. For trips into central London, leaving before eight or after half past nine avoids the worst of the traffic on the Edgware Road.
Canons Park and the Broadwalk
Canons Park, on the western edge of Edgware, has a walled garden, a pond and the grounds of the old Canons estate, now home to North London Collegiate School. Stanmore Country Park and Scratchwood, a stretch of ancient woodland beside the M1, have walks for school and youth groups.
The Broadwalk Centre, right next to the tube station, is Edgware's main shopping centre, and the Station Road shops have restaurants and kosher cafés for family meals. For birthday groups, we'll collect from homes across Edgware, Burnt Oak and Mill Hill and drop at the restaurant. Burnt Oak, just south, has a busy Broadway of Polish, Romanian and Somali shops and cafés, and families there book us for weddings and day trips too.
Edgware Community Hospital and day trips
Edgware Community Hospital, on Burnt Oak Broadway, runs outpatient services and a birth centre, and staff book us for team events, leaving dos and Christmas nights out. Community groups and senior clubs book day trips to the coast, gardens and stately homes. Woburn Abbey and Whipsnade Zoo are both within an hour up the M1.
The Broadway and the bus station
Edgware's centre is compact and busy. Station Road and the Broadway carry a lot of buses, the bus station sits next to the tube, and Saturday afternoons and the hour after school are particularly slow. The Edgware Road through Burnt Oak has bus lanes and limited stopping. In the town centre, the pickup will be on a quieter side road. For weddings, we'll check the access at the synagogue or the venue, because some have tight car parks.
