Harley Street has been London's address for private medicine since the nineteenth century, and the streets around it, Wimpole Street, Devonshire Place and Weymouth Street among them, are still lined with clinics, consulting rooms and specialist hospitals. Patients and their families travel in from all over the world. A few streets away, the Westway starts its long run west towards Heathrow and the M40. Minibus hire Marylebone customers book draws on both, with families attending appointments together, business teams heading to the airport, concert-goers at Wigmore Hall and visitors to Regent's Park.
Marylebone sits north of Oxford Street, between Edgware Road and Great Portland Street, with Regent's Park and the Marylebone Road along its northern edge. From our base in SE1, it's about twenty to thirty minutes outside the rush hour, over Westminster or Waterloo Bridge and up through Mayfair.
Minibus hire Marylebone for clinic appointments
Families travelling for treatment often come as a group, a patient with a partner, parents, children and sometimes an interpreter. They may be staying in a hotel or a serviced apartment nearby and need to get to several appointments over a week, sometimes at different clinics and hospitals across London.
We'll collect from the hotel or apartment, drop at the clinic and come back at the time you give us, or wait nearby if the appointment length is uncertain. For a series of appointments, we can set up the bookings for the whole stay. Some families stay for weeks while a relative is in hospital, at the London Clinic on Devonshire Place, the Princess Grace on Nottingham Place or another private hospital nearby, and they book us for visits, shopping and airport runs. If anyone uses a wheelchair or walking aid, let us know so we can send the right vehicle.
Harley Street and the streets around it have very little stopping space, and many clinics have no forecourt. We'll agree a drop-off at the nearest legal point and keep the walk short.
Heathrow along the A40
The Marylebone flyover carries the A40 Westway west from the Marylebone Road, and from there it's a straight run out of London. Heathrow is about forty to fifty minutes outside the rush hour, via the Westway and the A40, then the A312 or the M25, or across to the M4. Luton is about fifty minutes, via the Finchley Road and the M1. Gatwick is about an hour and a quarter or more.
Business teams from the offices around Marylebone, Baker Street and Paddington Basin book us for airport runs with luggage and samples, and visiting delegations book us for arrivals. For a team flight, we'll set a pickup with a margin for the Westway, which slows quickly in the morning peak.
Wigmore Hall and the High Street
Wigmore Hall, on Wigmore Street, is one of the world's great venues for chamber music and song, with concerts most evenings and on Sunday mornings. Music societies and groups of friends book us for evenings there. Marylebone High Street, with its independent bookshops, cafés and restaurants, and the Marylebone Farmers' Market on Sundays draw groups in for a long lunch or a day of browsing.
The Wallace Collection, in Hertford House on Manchester Square, holds one of the finest collections of paintings, armour and French furniture in London, and entry is free. It suits art societies and school groups alike.
Regent's Park, Baker Street and the sights
Regent's Park, at the top of Marylebone, has the Queen Mary's Gardens rose garden, the Open Air Theatre, boating and sports pitches, and London Zoo at its northern edge. Baker Street has the Sherlock Holmes Museum, and Madame Tussauds sits on the Marylebone Road. London Zoo has coach parking on the Outer Circle, which makes it one of the easier sights for a group.
For tourist groups and families, we'll drop at the nearest safe point to each sight and plan the day so the driver isn't circling. The Open Air Theatre's summer season is a popular group evening out, and we'll agree the pickup at one of the park's gates.
Marylebone Road and the Congestion Charge
The Marylebone Road is the northern edge of the Congestion Charge zone, and it's one of the busiest roads in London, with heavy traffic in both directions most of the day. Streets south of it are inside the zone. If your trip enters the zone during charging hours, the charge goes on the quote. All our vehicles meet the ULEZ standard.
Minibus hire Marylebone groups book from a hotel near Baker Street is usually collected from the hotel's own drop-off or a side street, because stopping on the Marylebone Road itself isn't possible. Give us the address when you book, and we'll check the pickup point.
