Ruislip still has a medieval barn, a high street with a village feel and seven hundred acres of ancient woodland on its doorstep, which is more than most places inside the M25 can say. It's a suburb of families and schools, and most of what we do here is for them. Minibus hire Ruislip customers book covers school trips and sports fixtures, summer days at the Lido, weddings and family parties, and runs to Heathrow and Luton.
Ruislip takes in Ruislip Manor, South Ruislip, Ruislip Gardens and the edges of Eastcote, in the north of Hillingdon. From our base in SE1, it's about an hour to an hour and a quarter outside the rush hour, out along the A40.
Minibus hire Ruislip for school trips
Ruislip and the surrounding area have a lot of primary and secondary schools, and they book us for museum visits in central London, swimming galas, sports fixtures and residential trips. The South Kensington museums are about fifty minutes away outside the rush hour, and Kew Gardens about forty.
For a school booking, tell us the number of pupils and staff, the times and the destination, and we'll give you a quote and the details in writing. The driver will be at the school gate at the agreed time.
For residential trips, the minibus has room for bags and bedding, and we can collect at the end of the week too. For weekly swimming or sport, a standing booking at the same time each week works well over a term.
Ruislip Lido and the woods
Ruislip Lido began as a reservoir for the Grand Union Canal and now has a sandy beach, a play area and a miniature railway that runs through the trees around the water. Ruislip Woods, a National Nature Reserve, covers Park Wood, Mad Bess Wood and Copse Wood, and is one of the largest areas of ancient woodland in Greater London.
Schools come for nature trips, and families and community groups come for summer days. Minibus hire Ruislip groups book for a Lido day avoids the car park, which fills early on hot weekends. The driver drops near the entrance on Reservoir Road and comes back at an agreed time.
Manor Farm and weddings
Manor Farm, near the top of the High Street, has a medieval Great Barn, a library in an old cowbyre and grounds used for events and weddings. The barn dates back to the thirteenth century and is one of the oldest timber-framed buildings in the London area. Ruislip's churches, St Martin's among them, host weddings, and receptions follow at golf clubs, halls and country venues to the north and west.
For weddings, we'll run guests between the ceremony, the reception and their homes or hotels. Many guests come from across west London and the Home Counties, and a minibus means nobody has to worry about driving home.
Sport, clubs and nights out
Ruislip has rugby, cricket, football and tennis clubs, and they book us for away fixtures, tournaments and end-of-season trips. A squad with kit bags fits in one vehicle. Golf societies use us for days out at courses in the Chilterns and Hertfordshire. Junior tournaments in summer draw teams from across the region, and a minibus suits a youth squad with parents following by car.
The High Street and Ruislip Manor have pubs and restaurants for birthday dinners and nights out. For those, we'll collect from homes across the area and plan the drop-offs at the end of the night.
Heathrow, Luton and the A40
Heathrow is about twenty-five to thirty-five minutes from Ruislip outside the rush hour, via the A437 and the A4 or the M4. Luton is about forty-five minutes, via the M25 and the M1, and Stansted about an hour and a quarter. Gatwick is about an hour, via the M25. For a family holiday, one vehicle with space for every suitcase beats two cars in the long-stay car park.
The A40 into London is the main route east. At the Polish War Memorial junction near South Ruislip, it meets the A4180, and at peak times the queues stretch a long way back. RAF Northolt, beside the A40, has its own traffic when there are movements. For trips into central London, we'll pick the time to leave so the group isn't sitting at the junction.
Narrow roads and summer weekends
The older streets around the High Street and Ruislip Manor are narrow, lined with parked cars and, in places, have width restrictions. Some cul-de-sacs are too tight for a larger minibus to turn. Give us the address when you book, and we'll check the nearest point the vehicle can reach. On summer weekends, the roads around the Lido and the woods are much busier than usual, so allow extra time.
