Chiswick House was built in the 1720s as a place for the Earl of Burlington to show off his art and entertain his friends, and three hundred years later it's still doing much the same job, only now the guests are wedding parties. Its Palladian villa, conservatory and gardens are one of west London's most sought-after wedding venues. Minibus hire Chiswick customers book often starts there, but it also covers office teams from the business park, riverside lunches at Strand on the Green, school trips and Heathrow runs.
Chiswick sits in a loop of the Thames between Hammersmith and Brentford, with the A4 along its northern side and the High Road through the middle. From our base in SE1, it's about thirty-five to forty minutes outside the rush hour.
Minibus hire Chiswick for weddings at Chiswick House
Weddings at Chiswick House often have the ceremony in the house or the gardens and the reception in the conservatory or a marquee. Guests come from across London and abroad, and many stay in hotels along the A4 or around Heathrow.
A minibus that collects guests from the hotels, drops them at the house and takes them back at the end keeps everyone together and saves arguments about taxis. The house sits off the Burlington Lane side of the A4, and the gates and drive have their own arrangements for vehicles, so we'll agree the drop-off and waiting points with the venue in advance. Hogarth's House, the painter's country home, is just along the road and makes a quick stop for guests with an hour to spare. Minibus hire Chiswick couples book for the day usually covers a morning run to the house, a late run back to the hotels, and sometimes a lift for the bridal party in between.
Business park and office teams
Chiswick Business Park, near Chiswick Park station, has offices for media, technology and consumer companies, and more offices line the Great West Road and the High Road. Companies book us for away days, client visits, team nights out and airport runs.
For a team heading out of London, the M4 and the A316 make the start of the trip easy. For a Christmas party in the West End, we'll collect from the office and take everyone home at the end, with the drop-offs in a sensible order. Many Chiswick firms bring in clients and colleagues from abroad, and meeting them at Heathrow and dropping them at the business park is a short run.
Strand on the Green and the riverside
Strand on the Green, a row of old houses and pubs along the river near Kew Bridge, is one of the prettiest stretches of the Thames in London. Groups come for long lunches and summer evenings at its pubs. The riverside path has no road access, so the driver drops on the streets behind it, near Kew Bridge station. At the highest spring tides the river covers the path, so check the tide times before planning a riverside lunch. Further east, Chiswick Mall and the riverside near Hammersmith have more pubs and grand old houses.
Fuller's Griffin Brewery, by the river near the Hogarth Roundabout, has been brewing in Chiswick for centuries, and brewery tours draw groups too. Duke's Meadows, by Chiswick Bridge, has playing fields, a bandstand and a Sunday farmers' market, and it's one of the best places to watch the finish of the Boat Race.
Turnham Green and the High Road
Chiswick High Road has restaurants, cafés and shops from Turnham Green to Gunnersbury, and it's a popular spot for birthday dinners and family celebrations. Turnham Green, the open space at the eastern end, hosts summer events, and the Chiswick Book Festival each September draws visitors from across west London.
For nights out, we'll collect from homes across Chiswick and Grove Park and plan the drop-offs. Chiswick has a lot of quiet residential streets, so give us the address and we'll check the nearest point the vehicle can stop.
Heathrow, Kew and the A4
Heathrow is about twenty to thirty minutes from Chiswick outside the rush hour, straight down the A4 and the M4. Gatwick is about an hour, via the A316 and the M25. Kew Gardens is five minutes away, over Kew Bridge. Schools across Chiswick use that run for Kew trips, and the London Museum of Water and Steam, beside Kew Bridge, is another short school outing.
The Hogarth Roundabout and the Chiswick Roundabout are the main pinch points. At peak times, both are slow, and the A4 queues back towards Hammersmith. The other thing to plan for is the cycle lane along Chiswick High Road, which has reduced the places a larger vehicle can stop on the High Road itself. For a pickup on the High Road, we'll agree a point on a side street.
