Hammersmith is where central London starts to give way to the west. The A4 flies over the Broadway towards Heathrow, the river bends past riverside pubs, and the Eventim Apollo draws gig-goers from all over the city. Minibus hire Hammersmith groups book is a mix of gigs and shows, office teams from the business district, and some of the quickest Heathrow runs in London.
From our base in SE1, Hammersmith is about thirty to forty minutes outside the rush hour.
Gigs at the Eventim Apollo
The Eventim Apollo, just off the Broadway, is one of London's best-known venues for music and comedy, and its shows sell out quickly. For a group, a minibus means arriving together and, more importantly, leaving together when thousands of people pour out at the same time.
After a show, the roads around the Broadway fill with buses and taxis. We'll agree a pickup point a short walk from the venue, usually on a quieter road south of the flyover.
The Apollo has seated and standing shows, and everyone leaves at once onto Queen Caroline Street. For a birthday or a work night out, we can collect from a restaurant on King Street before the show and drop at the venue.
Theatre and the riverside
The Lyric Hammersmith, on King Street, is one of west London's main theatres, and Riverside Studios, by the bridge, has theatre, film and TV studios. School groups and theatre parties book us for evening and matinee shows. The Lyric's Christmas pantomime is a regular school and family outing, and matinees fill up early.
Along the river, a string of old pubs, the Dove among them, draws groups for long lunches and summer evenings. Furnivall Gardens and the riverside walk are popular for a stroll after lunch.
The Boat Race passes Hammersmith every spring, and the riverside pubs are among the most popular places to watch. Roads near the river get busy that afternoon, so we drop a little further back.
Minibus hire Hammersmith for office teams
Hammersmith has a large business district around the Broadway, with offices for media, tech and consumer brands. Companies book us for away days, client events, team nights out and airport runs. King Street, the main shopping street, has restaurants with private rooms that suit a team dinner. Away days often head out to venues in Surrey or the Thames Valley, and the A4 and the M4 make the start of those trips easy.
For office pickups, we'll find a stopping point near the building that suits a minibus. The roads around the Broadway are busy, so it's often on a side street.
Heathrow straight down the A4
Hammersmith is one of the best places in London to start a Heathrow run. The A4 and the M4 take you straight there, and outside the rush hour it's about twenty-five to thirty-five minutes. For families heading on holiday, it's an easy run. Hotels near the Broadway and along the Hammersmith Road host plenty of business travellers, and an early run to Heathrow from them is quick before the rush hour builds.
Gatwick is about an hour to an hour and a quarter, via the A3 or the M25. Stansted and Luton are further, at about an hour and a quarter to an hour and a half outside the rush hour, and both are easier from here by road than by train with a group. London City is the other side of town, roughly forty-five minutes to an hour.
Ravenscourt Park and the west
Ravenscourt Park, on the western edge of Hammersmith, has sports pitches and a playground used by local schools and clubs. Chiswick, a little further west, has its own high street and riverside, and plenty of bookings collect from both. Several schools, including Latymer Upper on King Street and Godolphin and Latymer, need transport for fixtures, trips and events.
Brackenbury Village, the quiet streets north of Goldhawk Road, has narrow roads where a larger vehicle may need to stop at the end of the street.
Charing Cross Hospital, on the Fulham Palace Road, and Hammersmith Hospital, in White City, are both close, and staff book us for team events, from leaving dos to Christmas nights out.
The Broadway and the closed bridge
Hammersmith Broadway is one of the busiest junctions in west London, a gyratory around the bus station with traffic coming from every direction. The flyover carries the A4 over it.
Hammersmith Bridge has been closed to motor vehicles for years, so trips south across the river use Putney Bridge or Chiswick Bridge instead. The thing to know about minibus hire Hammersmith residents book for a trip to Barnes or Putney is that the closed bridge makes it longer than it looks on a map. We'll plan the route and the timings around it.
