Minibus hire Kensington and Chelsea for museums, hotels and weddings

Museum trips in South Kensington, hotel runs to Heathrow, Chelsea weddings and Notting Hill, planned around Exhibition Road and Carnival weekend.

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is small on the map and huge in what it holds. The great museums of South Kensington, the Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Palace, the King's Road, Portobello Road and Notting Hill Carnival are all here. Minibus hire Kensington and Chelsea customers book reflects that, with school trips, hotel airport runs, weddings and events at the top of the list.

From our base in SE1, the borough is about twenty-five to thirty-five minutes outside the rush hour, along the Embankment or through Victoria.

Museums in South Kensington

The Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the V&A sit side by side in South Kensington, and together they draw more school groups than almost anywhere in London. Imperial College and the Royal College of Music are close by.

The streets around the museums have very little room for coaches or minibuses, and Exhibition Road is a shared space where vehicles move slowly among pedestrians. Drop-offs are usually on a nearby road, with a short walk to the entrance. With small children, allow a few extra minutes for that walk. The museums use timed entry slots for school groups, so book the slot first and give us the time.

The museums are also popular with families and visiting groups at weekends and in the school holidays, when the queues stretch along the road. A minibus drop-off for the opening time beats the crowds.

Minibus hire Kensington and Chelsea for hotels

The borough has a lot of hotels, from grand ones in Knightsbridge and Kensington to smaller places around Earl's Court and Gloucester Road. Groups staying here book us for Heathrow runs, tours and days out.

Heathrow is about forty to fifty minutes from most of the borough outside the rush hour, west along the Cromwell Road and the A4. Gatwick is about an hour to an hour and a quarter. London City Airport is about forty-five minutes.

The Royal Albert Hall and Kensington Palace

The Royal Albert Hall hosts concerts, the Proms in the summer and events through the year. Kensington Palace and its gardens, on the western edge of Hyde Park, draw visitors every day. Holland Park, further west, has its own summer opera season.

The Proms run nightly through the summer, and Prom-goers often want transport home after a late concert. For concerts, we'll agree a pickup point a short walk from the hall, away from the crowds, and the driver will message with the exact spot.

Chelsea weddings and the King's Road

Chelsea Old Town Hall, on the King's Road, is one of London's best-known register offices, and couples come from all over to marry there. A minibus from the town hall to the reception keeps guests together. The King's Road itself is busy with shops and restaurants, and Sloane Square, at its eastern end, has the Royal Court Theatre and a busy junction where stopping is tricky.

The Chelsea Flower Show, in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea every May, draws huge crowds and changes the traffic around it for the week. Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, on the Fulham Road, is one of the borough's main hospitals, and staff book us for team events and leaving dos.

Notting Hill and Carnival weekend

Notting Hill, in the north of the borough, has Portobello Road market, restaurants and pubs, and plenty of weddings and private parties. Over the August bank holiday weekend, Notting Hill Carnival takes over the streets, with road closures across a large area for two days.

If your booking falls on Carnival weekend, tell us, and we'll plan around the closures.

Outside the Congestion Charge zone

Most of Kensington and Chelsea sits outside the Congestion Charge zone, which keeps costs down for trips that stay in the west. The Cromwell Road and the King's Road are slow at peak times, and many residential streets are narrow, with parking on both sides.

The thing to know about minibus hire Kensington and Chelsea residents book for a home pickup is that some mews and garden squares are too narrow for a larger minibus. We'll look at the street before the day and pick the closest spot a minibus can use.

Earl's Court and Gloucester Road have hostels and budget hotels that are popular with school groups and young travellers from abroad. For those, a minibus for a day of sightseeing or a run to the airport with all the luggage is often much easier than the tube.

Give us the hotel, the numbers and the plan, and we'll come back with a vehicle, a pickup time and a written price.

Weekend mornings are the easiest time to get across the borough by road.
