Edmonton is where the North Circular meets the Lea Valley, and it's one of the most mixed places in north London, with Turkish, Kurdish, Greek Cypriot, Caribbean, Ghanaian, Somali and Polish communities living side by side. Families here travel a lot, often to see relatives abroad, and they celebrate in big numbers. Minibus hire Edmonton customers book reflects that, with runs to Stansted and Luton, school trips, weddings and family parties, sport at the Lee Valley centres and team nights out for hospital staff.
Edmonton takes in Edmonton Green, Upper Edmonton, Lower Edmonton and the new development at Meridian Water, in the south-east of Enfield borough. From our base in SE1, it's about fifty minutes to an hour outside the rush hour, up the A10 or through Hackney and Tottenham.
Minibus hire Edmonton for Stansted runs
Stansted is about forty to fifty minutes from Edmonton outside the rush hour, along the North Circular and up the M11. Many of the cheapest flights to Turkey, Cyprus, Poland and the Baltic states leave from there, and families heading off for a summer or a wedding abroad often have several cases each.
A minibus takes the whole family and the luggage in one go. For departures, tell us the flight time and we'll suggest a pickup time with a margin for the M11. For arrivals, give us the flight number and we'll keep track of it on the day. Luton is about forty-five minutes to an hour, Heathrow about an hour, and Gatwick about an hour and a quarter or more.
Weddings and family parties
Edmonton weddings and engagement parties can be big, with guests from across north London and abroad. Receptions are often at banqueting halls and function rooms in Edmonton, Enfield and along the Lea Valley, and many go on late. Turkish and Kurdish weddings in particular can carry on well past midnight, so we'll agree the last run home in advance.
We'll plan a loop that collects guests from their homes, drops at the ceremony, takes them on to the reception and brings them back. For large weddings, we can add more vehicles or run the loop more than once. Minibus hire Edmonton families book for christenings, birthdays and anniversaries works the same way.
School trips and the Millfield
Edmonton has a lot of primary and secondary schools, and they book us for museum visits, swimming, sports fixtures and residential trips. The South Kensington museums are about an hour away outside the rush hour, and the Science Museum and Natural History Museum have coach and minibus drop-off nearby.
The Millfield Theatre, in the grounds of the Georgian Millfield House near Silver Street, puts on a Christmas pantomime and touring shows that draw local schools. Pymmes Park has a walled garden and a lake for a picnic outing.
Lee Valley sport
The Lee Valley Athletics Centre, at Pickett's Lock on the eastern edge of Edmonton, is one of the main indoor athletics venues in the south of England, and clubs, schools and county squads compete and train there. The same site has a golf course and a cinema. Further down the valley, the Lee Valley Ice Centre, the White Water Centre and the Olympic Park venues in Stratford are all within half an hour.
Clubs book us for competitions, training camps and away fixtures. A squad with its kit fits in one vehicle, and the driver waits and brings the team back.
North Middlesex Hospital and the Green
North Middlesex University Hospital, on Sterling Way by the North Circular, is one of the busiest hospitals in north London. Staff teams book us for nights out, leaving dos and Christmas parties, often with a pickup after a late shift. The site is large and has several entrances, so we'll confirm which one the driver uses.
Edmonton Green, the shopping centre and market by the station, is the town's main centre. Meridian Water, by the new station of the same name, is one of the largest regeneration schemes in London, with thousands of homes planned beside the River Lee. For pickups there, we'll agree a point near the bus station or on a side road.
The North Circular and match days
The North Circular through Edmonton is busy at all hours, and the junction at Angel Edmonton, where it crosses Fore Street, is one of the slowest in the area. The A10 Great Cambridge Road, to the west, is the main route north to the M25. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is just south of the borough boundary, and on match days and concert nights, Fore Street and the High Road close or fill for hours. If your booking falls on a Spurs home match or a stadium concert, tell us and we'll plan the route around it.
